I am going to speak briefly regarding resources.
The most primary resource is thought. Everything else we wish to call a resource becomes a resource as we apply thought to the accomplishment of our desires. Examples might be pencil and paper, people, money, real estate, time. Thought is required to perceive and value anything.
Very often our thoughts and desires outstrip our other resources and abilities. I would be surprised if I could find one of you that has no “wish list.” Some subject will put a dreamy look in your eye. One of the things we look forward to in the Promised Land is that our resources will be nearly unlimited. But our resources are closely limited here. By the use of the resources we do have available, we sustain our families and support our church, hobbies, and other interests.
Now back to the primary resource – thought. God made us to be companions of His. But at the tree of knowledge of good and evil that companionship was broken. We started to misuse this resource to justify to ourselves doing what we knew was wrong. By way of the substitution of His Son the status of “broken” was reduced to “challenged.”
Listen close. Which side of the challenge we take is demonstrated by the way we use available resources. Thus the judgment can rely on the way we use resources as a dependable measure of our thinking. How we use resources here demonstrates our fitness for heaven. It is not my purpose this day to ask for money; we support our own ministry.
It is my purpose to encourage you to face the challenge of sin’s affront and allow God to restore the intended companionship. Use your thought to guide yourself back into right relationships. It is important to Him for you to restore the relationship with Him. If you haven’t ever asked Him to take you as His own, you need to do that.
You need the relationship and love being His child can bring. He doesn’t expect long King James prayers; He just wants you to say something like, “Lord, I have sinned. I am so sorry. Please forgive me and take me as your own. Lead me to someone who can help me grow closer to you. In thy son’s name, amen.” That’s all.
It’s a simple gift, a request, a rejoining to Him. That’s what he wants. That’s what you need.
