Outrageous Allegiance?!

There are some jaw dropping vignettes into the corruption, even vile attributes of the church (spiritual community) Christ belonged to.

Saturday night Simon had a party in honor of Jesus. Things were going well until this woman came in and spilled a 12-ounce container of exquisite perfume on Him. It is quite likely that at least some of the, say $30,000, that purchased it was traceable to the temple treasury via very personal services rendered. Considering the reputation of this woman Jesus’ response was totally inappropriate (at least as many present saw it). If He was a prophet, wouldn’t he know how evil this woman was who was touching him and making such a scene? To Judas, this was the last straw. He quietly left early. He dropped in on some key members of the Executive Committee with an offer he thought they might be interested in. Early Friday morning that agreement was fulfilled.

Along about Tuesday evening Jesus and His group sauntered into the temple and were hanging out in the shadows opposite the temple offering receptacle. Suddenly, Jesus sat up and began beckoning the others to watch. He pointed out a very shy widow, a third-class citizen. They watched, puzzled, as she dropped in her life savings – in dollar value about like the pennies we drop in that dish by the cash register. “Poor sucker. She just threw her life savings into a sick place like this!” As we have indicated there was good reason for this to be Jesus’ response. In the context Jesus’ response was outrageous – or was it? Of all those who passed that way that day none were more blessed! The church – even that church – was God’s anointed, appointed agency on earth – even though it was about to put God to death. Jesus would not let go of that.

That is a key concept in the understanding of the war between good and evil. Not all is at it seems.

It is quite likely some reading here don’t support any church. It is not run the way you think it should be. You may be right – and also very wrong. No church on earth has ever held such an understanding of God’s plan and work in the universe as the church today has. No church on earth has at its finger tips such an understanding of the nature and love of God as the church today. No church on earth faces the wiles and distractions of Satan more than this church. This church is God’s anointed, appointed agency on earth. God, and the rest of heaven, is looking for those who are faithful even when things are a mess. The church is God’s ark, His refuge from this old dark world. It’s the safest, sanest place to be in a world full of pandemics, hatred, danger and war.
