Scam

A scam – what is a scam? Have you been scammed?

A scam is the tool of the con artist. He convinces a person to pay for something he can’t deliver. If we don’t know Christ for ourselves, as our Friend and Savior, He and His body, the church, are scams; products that don’t deliver. We may patronize the church because of the big carrot of peace and plenty in heaven that it offers. Is heaven our idol? Even as we may look for the gold and glitter of heaven, God hopes that at some time we may look for the Light that the glitter is reflecting and find Jesus. When Jesus is our great treasure, heaven is a bonus.

We are Jesus’ treasure. We are no scam to Him. “Where your treasure is; there will your heart be also.” (Matt 6:21) He gave His best treasure to us – His life. He put His money where His mouth was – is. His heart is with us.

Is Jesus our treasure? As one year turns into another we will be closing the books, we study our finances and we look to see what has been accomplished to make us more fiscally stable. We look at things we have accomplished, things completed, things not done, and we wonder what we could have done differently. We wonder if our lives are a scam, nothing accomplished but get up, eat, work, come home, eat, watch some TV, sleep and get up to do it all over again. Was this what we signed up for when we began “adulting?” What happened to our great adventure?

When your life is centered not on the day-to-day slog, but on finding a way to tell other’s about Him, life takes n more of a feeling of adventure. You ask God where to lead you, and you are surprised at how it happens. At the end of the year, you can look back and realize just how often He kept you out of trouble, how He used you to help others, and life takes on a different meaning than eat, work, sleep, repeat. Join the journey to a place unknown. Don’t be scammed into mediocrity. Strive for excellence. Walk with Him.
